Five ideas on biology, psychology, and fulfillment. Free, weekly.

Biology

The substrate of everything. Mitochondrial efficiency, metabolic flexibility, the lactate curve, sleep, recovery — the measurable layer that determines what your body can actually do with whatever else you've built. Easy aerobic work as the floor. Intensity as a scalpel. Fuel that matches the work. Strength that buys durability for the years you actually plan to live in this body.

Psychology

The mind is either the limiter or the supercharger. Identity, agency, attention — the stories you tell yourself when the work gets hard. Without this layer, the rest of the system never gets fully used. The frameworks I trust most come from constructed-emotion theory and the literature on motivation, not from the wellness aisle.

Relationships

The most underrated longevity input. The social fabric matters more than most physiology papers admit — for adherence, for meaning, for the years that actually feel lived in. You can't VO₂max your way out of isolation.

Passion

What you actually want to do with the body biology hands you. The work, the projects, the people, the trails — the answers to "what makes a Tuesday afternoon worth getting up for." A framework for health that doesn't ask what the health is for is solving the wrong problem.

Funspan: The Science of Engaged Aliveness

Most longevity books optimize for years. Most wellness books optimize for feeling good. Funspan is built on a different premise — that health and fulfillment aren't tradeoffs but synergistic when aligned. Part exercise physiology, part philosophy, part field guide, drawing on mitochondrial bioenergetics, constructed-emotion theory, and a few thousand miles on trail.

Run Durable: Overuse Injury Prevention

The science behind the most common runner injuries — IT band, shin splints, hip flexor, patellofemoral — and a complete strength and prehab protocol to make your frame keep up with your engine. Daily prehab, weekly strength, biomechanics primer.

I also work privately with a small number of athletes and patients on metabolic health and personalized physiology coaching — by referral only.
